Marcus's Legal Surgeries
A cost-effective way of obtaining Legal Services during the Credit Crunch.
I attend at your offices for a morning or an afternoon (e.g. 9am - 1pm/2pm - 6pm) and deal with any commercial legal matters or questions which you have - and that are within my competence.
This is for a flat fee of £1,000 + VAT (paid in advance, like a training course) + reasonable travelling expenses (charged in arrears).
For companies with in-house legal departments, this enables them - at a known fixed cost - to deal with overload issues or temporary workload problems without employing a full-time lawyer or engaging outside legal services "by the hour";
For other companies it enables them to obtain experienced legal services at much less than it would otherwise cost.
The Services that I provide can be as varied as you like. For example:
O Advising or brainstorming on your contracts generally or your distribution or outsourcing arrangements;
O Helping with the preparation of responses to invitations to tender;
O Assisting you to resolve confidentiality or trade secret issues with employees or former employees;
O Assisting in conflict situations with other companies - for example passing off or trade mark infringements;
O Drafting agreements or important letters;
O Helping with staff training - for example devising and delivering legal training or workshops relevant to your companies business;
O Dealing with queries about (say) how contracts are formed in particular situations (e.g. on-line) or how to avoid inadvertently giving away your products for 1p (after a mistake has been made on your website);
O Checking the legality of your website and drafting terms where necessary;
O Helping to formulate marketing proposals that are within the law (to avoid ASA problems);
O Examining your compliance with consumer protection legislation;
O Examining your compliance with data protection legislation;
O Scrutinising your contacts to identify errors - and correcting such errors;
O Drafting a suite of business contracts for you;
O Advising on supplier contracts;
O Advising on competition law issues affecting your business;
O Helping you with your trade marks/brands and domain names;
O Dealing with cyber-squatters;
O Advising you on how best to protect ideas, business methods, training courses etc;
O Clearing your advertising copy;
O Advising on or writing rules for Free Prize Draws, Competitions or Lotteries - in all media formats;
O Advising on Sponsorship deals and writing any agreements required; or
O Helping on large or important Projects.
If you would like to discuss these Services further or want to book a morning or afternoon surgery (or a series of such), please just drop me a line at marcus.oleary@lewissilkin.com with your requirements and suggested dates and I will do my best to accommodate you.
(If you are not an existing client you will first have to be "processed" by Lewis Silkin LLP which involves identity and money laundering checks and agreeing to Lewis Silkin's terms and conditions of business. These are fairly standard and the process is quite painless - and has to be followed by every lawyer in the country before he or she can give legal advice.)
